What is your name? Steve Wiper
What’s your current job? Wealth Management Advisor for TIAA. As an advisor for TIAA over the past 10 years, I primarily work with Professors, Doctors and administrators of such institutions. The vast majority of my clients are nearing retirement or already retired. In most cases, I help them navigate through the transition of working life into retirement. We not only manage their retirement money, but help structure income strategies, as well as plan for the what-if’s in life, such as incapacity and estate planning.
What do you love most about it? There are two things that I truly enjoy about my career:
- The history of my company, TIAA is nearly 100 years old and we are one of the most trusted financial institutions in the industry. With our not-for-profit heritage and focus on our clients, my company allows for me to take an unbiased approach to recommendations and advice that I give.
- I have the opportunity to work with some of this country’s brightest minds, including renowned doctors, published professors and folks that have done their part in the advancement of so many. Some of my clients include a NASA scientist, a former CEO of one of the most prestigious hospitals in the world and even a poet-laureate.
How long have you been a member of Cape Space? What’s your best experience thus far? Our company started looking for office space on the Cape back in the fall of 2015 and nothing quite fit the model of what we were looking for. Cape Space came on the radar in early August and our company quickly signed on with 3 offices.
Robin and her crew have been nothing but helpful with my transition into my new office. I have a lot of lot of clients that come to my office for meetings and all have been very impressed with the offices. They have been very responsive to the little details and requests since the move, which has truly been a blessing for someone that manages so many different relationships. Right down to the greeting that my clients experience when they arrive, I couldn’t be happier.
When not working, what do you like to do?
I have 4 sons that have kept me quite busy over the years. Between coaching and all the other various sporting events to see. Nothing has really compared to running around every weekend to see my kids compete. Two of my boys are now in college, so I can see the golf course calling my name in the not-so-distant future.
Guilty Pleasure: What can you not live without?
Favorite Movie?
Top Gun has always been that movie that I just can’t turn off it comes on the TV.
Favorite Book?
I’m not a big reader, but I really enjoyed ‘Lone Survivor’
Favorite TV Show?
24 & 2 ½ Men
What is one thing that you would like people to know about you?
Tough question, but maybe the fact that I’m genuinely sad that my boys are growing up and ‘leaving the nest’. I couldn’t be more proud of all of them, but it still stings to see them go. I have been blessed.
