Success is something we all want to achieve. Everyone has goals, desires and dreams. The question is, how do we get there? By studying the habits of successful people, we can learn some tips and techniques for building a life of success and prosperity.

Seven Steps to Success

1- Get Up Early

One of the most common characteristics of successful people is waking up and starting their day early. Writer Johnathan Swift said, “I never knew a man come to greatness or eminence who lay abed late in the morning.” By rising early, many successful business people put in a full day’s work before noon, leaving the rest of the day for other pursuits.

2- Dress For Success

Most prominent people agree that if you want to succeed, you have to think, act and dress for success. Never underdress. Even if you work from home, get cleaned up and dress for a productive day. The more you envision your success, and live in a successful way, the easier it will be to reach.

3- Get Organized

Set a schedule. Take notes. Put your tasks in order, and plan time and resources for each one. Benjamin Franklin once said, “For every minute spent organizing, an hour is earned.” Sort the steps of your journey into manageable portions, and work each one specifically. It takes far less time to work a dedicate task than to sort through chaos.

4- Exercise

A healthy mind needs a healthy body. President John F. Kennedy affirmed, “Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity.” Physical health is the engine that powers the intellectual and emotional activities of the individual, and exercise is the fuel.

5- Seek Balance

Another common aspect of successful living is in maintaining balance. Those who dedicate all their time and efforts to one area of life often find themselves unfulfilled, exhausted or just plain burned out. True success includes time for family, relaxation, and even hobbies or other pursuits.

6- Surround Yourself With Success

Author Wilfred Peterson said, “Walk with the dreamers, the believers, the courageous, the cheerful, the planners, the doers, the successful people with their heads in the clouds and their feet on the ground.” No matter what seeds of greatness you sow, they must have a proper environment for them to sprout and grow.

7- Keep Working

Oftentimes, success is achieved merely by perseverance. It’s three steps forward and two steps back. It’s accepting defeat as a step toward victory. Thomas Edison once said, “Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.” Success is never found in quitting. Keep pressing on.
