So, what can you expect during these sessions, and why is meditation such a positive practice? Let’s hear from our instructor, Jonathan Zelman:
The health benefits associated with a regular mindfulness practice are undeniable: reduced stress, lower heart rate, improved cognitive functioning. And yet less than 15% of Americans have practiced even once in the last year; only slightly more than the 12% of Americans who are eating enough fruits and vegetables. As an instructor, the question I ask myself is: How can I share mindfulness in a way that is SIGNIFICANTLY more fun than eating your vegetables?
Simply put, it comes down to curiosity. By honing the skill of curiosity in the present moment we can allow ourselves to engage with the sights, smells and bodily sensations unfolding in the here and now. What exists in this moment beneath the level of thought?
In this relaxing 30-minute session, there will be a portion for guided and silent practice (no prior experience required!), as well as a period for questions – bring on the curiosity!
