Meet: Janet Wynne
Court Reporter
“CapeSpace has improved my work life immensely by giving me a presence in Hyannis with wonderful conference room facilities.”
1. What is your current occupation?
Court Reporter
2. What do you love most about your job & why?
I love the variety of having certain days scheduled to attend a deposition or court and then other days scheduled for working on transcripts (or not ?). It allows me the opportunity to manage my week with flexibility, which works very well for me.
3. What has changed in your industry in the past five years?
The biggest and best change has been the presence of several Facebook professional group sites which allow court reporters to connect and network better.
4. How has CapeSpace improved your work life?
CapeSpace has improved my work life immensely by giving me a presence in Hyannis with wonderful conference room facilities in which to conduct depositions for out-of-town clients.
5. What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love to quilt but no longer have the time or space for it. These days I enjoy just the simple things of day-to-day life…spending time with family and friends, including my mom who is in a nursing home with Alzheimer’s; gardening (and by that I mean mostly picking weeds lol); eating out (literally outside!) and going out to eat; and sunset cruises on the lake where I live.
6. What is your favorite place on Cape Cod?
The Edgewater in Dennis Port, where I’ve had a timeshare for 20 years. Even though it’s close to home, I still go there for one week every July because of the quality of time spent there and the friendships we’ve formed with other people who have the same week.
7. If you could invite any three people living or dead to a dinner party who would they be and why?
Well, in addition to my family, because I would want them there, I would invite Theresa Caputo, the Long Island Medium, to connect with loved ones who have passed on; I would invite Betty White because I absolutely adore her; and I would invite Chef Lidia Bastianich because she can cook us a delicious Italian meal.
8. What is your superpower?
I would have to say my superpower is to keep pushing forward through adversity.
